I don't understand how you're trying to fully blame the customer or did I miss something ? Have you ever considered that when you sent the item, It was DROPPED off at the customer ? So it was damaged during shipping. My best bet is the bubblewrap was insuficient in protecting the light. So did you bubblewrap it, or did you provide any other protection for the mounting points that are sticking out ? As for the light, you CAN resell it, it's not useless, just make it clear that it has a broken case.

I used to sell $15-20k per year on eBay. Maintained 100% positive feedback, had power seller status when that was a thing, etc. But then things changed. eBay effectively opened the door for scammers and other dishonest types to take advantage of honest sellers by making it all-too-easy for the buyer to file a SNAD claim or an item-not-received claim and be guaranteed a refund even if they are lying. While this might be ok for high-volume sellers and just-a-cost-of-doing-business, it can kill a small-time seller. So I closed my eBay seller account in 2021 and now only buy there. When I do sell, I usually do so through specific, targeted Facebook groups or other forums which allow such. I only use PayPal Goods & Services for payment so that both sides are somewhat protected. As an American it's funny to see someone such as yourself running a successful business and your only goal is to payoff your mortgage and live within your means. I think many people in my home country could learn something from you guys and the British in general. I see so many succesfull business people in my country ruin their business due to the owners going to fast and living to large to quick. Just wanted to say your video resonated with me and I hope to own a home free and clear myself one day.

Thank you for sharing your trials and trauma with ebay. I have had an equally unfair and distressing experience with ebay. I specific transaction that happened over a year ago, but I am still suffering from due to Paypal collections. So, about a year ago I sold about 700 games for all different consoles to a guy in Boston, I think his handle was bostongames or similar. I was tiered of all the work that went into selling games and dealing with shady holes. I was counting on the money I made from all those games, to eat. The problem was that I put my heart into every sale. I'll spare you the drawn out description of my post order nightmares. I'll just say that it lead to me posting over $3,000 in games for a criminal $1,000. I felt a strange sence of elation over my biggest sale as well as a leery, creepy sensation that I missed something. It took far longer to go through each game (confirming that the game was there), than I had planned. It was a total pain, but it was my biggest sale and I had spent the money so it had to be perfect. I split the games between two boxes even though it was about $50 more that I wouldn't get back, to minimize the likelihood of the box getting dropped from being so heavy. I had to pack and tape fast because the shut off tome was near, I was dripping with sweat when I finally handed over the precious cargo to unnamed shipper. What a sence of relief. The creepy feeling was still there though. I don't know if you have ever had the experience where your access to a previous sale on ebay stops and you have no record of a sale, complete with all messages for that sale item? Well I have. So when I was checking the status of my biggest sale yet, I saw that the customer had reported a problem with his order - before the order even showed it had been delivered! I decided to protect myself from whatever this was going to become and I screen shotted everything. I got the generic message stating that my "customer" was reporting that over 60% of the games were either damaged or completely missing! I knew right then that this mfer was going to try and royally screw me over. But I was gleeful in the knowledge that I did everything right plus I had the screen shots to prove everything. On a side note, if he did actually have some damaged games, isn't that between him and the shipping company?! I went into my Paypal to tell them that I was being scammed and to not issue a refund under any circumstance because it was fraudulent and I have the proof. My account was overdrawn by $1, 053 or so. I was stunned and shaking. Ebay never gave me a chance to dispute the transaction. Paypal didn't need my authorization to take my non-existent funds. I never got one single game back from that penthouse dwelling piece of you know what. Ebay shut down my account for non payment to Paypal, and Paypal shut me down and sent me to collections!!! Now I can't do anything that requires Paypal if I ever wanted to and it is still in collections because I can't afford to feed myself much less come up with $1,000! Top top it all off, I saw someone selling some of the rarer games that were the same as the ones I had cut him a really good deal on that I couldn't afford to but did anyway. So he probably made at least $3,000 off my blood, sweat and tears. I can't get an apartment because of all this! I really am still dealing with the damage that ahole did to me financially and emotionally! I am bewildered at Ebays role in enabling this kind of thing to happen and I am furious that there is nothing I can do to set the record straight, redeem my reputation on ebay and force ebay and Paypal to in the very least hear my side and view my evidence which did disappear from my dashboard before I was banned. Then most importantly remove the bogus collections from my credit report!!! Please please please tell me, is there anything I can do besides cry myself to sleep some more? I'm sorry for writing this novel, but I'm really hoping you can turn this around finally for me.
